Awards Committee News
One of the benefits of active membership in NJAWBO is the opportunity
to work with fascinating and accomplished women business owners. There
are four annual awards given by NJAWBO to individual women: the Teal
Heart; the Nancy C. Righter Service Award; the Business Woman of the
Year; and the Woman of Achievement/Rose and Scroll.
Teal Hearts are given throughout the year to members of each Chapter
and of the State Board who have “gone above and beyond the call of
duty”. The Nancy C. Righter Service Award is given to a Teal Heart
awardee within the last year who best exemplifies, through her spirit
and energy, the outstanding service and dedication of Nancy C. Righter,
a former NJAWBO Chapter President who died in an automobile accident
while serving as State Board Awards Chair. The Business Woman of the
Year award is given to a woman who has distinguished herself in her
business, in NJAWBO and in her community, is nominated by her Chapter,
and has been a business owner and a member for at least three years.
The Woman of Achievement/Rose and Scroll award is given to a non-NJAWBO
member who has been a role model for women, has a record of assisting
women business owners and is nominated by a NJAWBO Chapter.
Nominations for a Teal Heart may be made to the Awards Committee at any
time during the year. The Nancy C. Righter Service Award and Woman of
Achievement/Rose and Scroll award nominations should be submitted to the
Awards Committee before October 1, 2002. Nominations for the Business
Woman of the Year Award should be submitted before November 1, 2002. If
you would like to submit a nomination for, or have any questions
concerning, any of these awards, please contact Linda R. Gardner, Esq.
