This month’s Awards Committee News spotlights the Business Woman of the Year Award, which is given annually by NJAWBO to a woman who has distinguished herself in her business, in NJAWBO and in her community. She must be both a business owner and a NJAWBO member for more than three years. Each chapter may nominate one member each year. A member may be nominated more than once, but may receive the award only once.

There are seven guidelines for the award. First, the nominee is rated on her reason, desire or need to start her business, the obstacles she encountered and the creativity she used to overcome these obstacles. Second, she is scored on her accomplishments, including any innovative initiations she has taken to make her business successful. Third, the nominee is judged on her activities in government that demonstrate a commitment to foster the economic growth of the business community and particularly women business owners. Fourth, she is rated on the contributions and activities she has made to NJAWBO which demonstrate her support of its mission and vision. Fifth, the nominee is scored on her history as a NJAWBO member. Sixth, she is judged on her personal involvement and contributions to civic and community organizations. Seventh, the nominee is rated on the recognition and/or awards she has received.

Written nominations for the Business Woman of the Year Award utilizing these guidelines should be submitted before November 1, 2002.
