Community Give Back Committee

Thank everyone in the Mercer Chapter for your generous donations to the Health Incentive Program for Women, which operates under the auspices of the City of Trenton. All of the clothing donated that night was greatly appreciated; Marisol Flores-Young joined us as our guest at the October dinner and expressed the organization's gratitude our help to the women and children that they service. The Health Incentive Program accepts donations of any type throughout the year. The Mercer Chapter of NJAWBO, once again, formed a team NJAWBO for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation New Jersey Race for the Cure scheduled for October 16, 2005. The team raised almost $900 for this worthy cause.

Among the team members was a breast cancer survivor, a reminder that one in ten women will be diagnosed with breast cancer at some time.

The team was aided by Michelle Long of Sign-a-rama, who contributed the signage, and Jackie Guthrie of 2imprint4U, who again helped obtain the standout turquoise NJAWBO visors.

Sunday, October 16th, turned out to be a sunny and breezy day. Unfortunately, after 8 straight days of drenching rain and flooding, the race was cancelled the evening of October 14th due to dangerous conditions at the Bristol Myers Squibb campus, the race site.

The team was very disappointed, but there is always next year.

In February, there are tentative plans to include our Re-Gifting Silent Auction to the meeting agenda.
