By Linda R. Gardner, Esq. NJAWBO-Mercer Awards Committee/New Member
Mentoring Chair
The Mercer Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO) is proud to announce that Suzanne Rosenblum, CPA, 2500 Brunswick Pike, Suite 205, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648, is the recipient of its Business Woman of the Year award for 2003.
When Suzanne Rosenblum started her accounting practice twenty years ago, it was a very big deal for a woman to start any business, let alone a certified public accounting firm. Ms. Rosenblum has consistently inspired women to start or expand their own businesses ever since. Her reassuring voice continues to encourage women to keep going when the going gets tough.
Suzanne Rosenblum holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Trenton State College (now the College of New Jersey), where she graduated summa cum laude. Ms. Rosenblum was one of the original founders of the NJAWBO Mercer chapter, and served as its president. She has been a member and supporter of NJAWBO since 1983, having held numerous NJAWBO State positions, including State Vice President of Finance. Suzie received the Mercer NJAWBO chapter's Teal Heart award for outstanding service in 1991.
Ms. Rosenblum has taught courses in Small Business Taxation at Mercer County Community College, and presented at the Pre-business Workshops for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) for 15 years. She has authored and published several articles on small business taxation, a topic which is her specialty. Suzanne Rosenblum is a member of the New Jersey Society of CPAs, having held all local chapter positions including that of President, as well as several state positions including Trustee, Treasurer, and Vice President. In 1992, she was awarded the Accountant Advocate of the Year award by the US Small Business Administration (SBA) for both New Jersey and Region II, which encompasses New Jersey, New York, and Puerto Rico.
Also active in municipal and county organizations, Ms. Rosenblum has served as a member of the Lawrence Township Economic Development Committee. She was a member of the Mercer County Commission on the Status of Women, where she was instrumental in putting together publications addressing latch-key programs. These programs succeeded in keeping a number of Mercer County women employed by providing supervised activities that kept their children safe while they were at work.
Suzie will be given the Mercer County NJAWBO's award for Business Woman of the Year for 2003 at the chapter's next monthly membership meeting on Thursday, March 13th, 2003. The event will be held at the Merrill Lynch Conference Center on Scudders Mill Road in Plainsboro. The public is invited to attend.
