President's Message

Lisa Harrah, Mercer Chapter President

Creating your own Brain Trust, what a profound thought. This month's dinner meeting is a meeting you must not miss! All small businesses are faced with the "E-Myth" challenge, that is to work on your business not in your business. In theory this makes perfect sense, the challenge is to implement it. Creating a Brain Trust will enable each of us small business owners to dedicate a predetermined amount of time to work on our businesses, not in them. Three very well known respected and successful Mercer County business owners will address our members on how this concept helped them succeed.

As many of you are aware, our board has spent an enormous amount of time over the last two to three months researching the value of NJAWBO and NAWBO. What was very apparent and one of the overriding factors in making our decision to succeed from NAWBO was the incredible network of amazing business women here in NJ and for us in Mercer County. I have always felt very strongly that the value of networking with such resourceful and determined women was immeasurable, and I am thrilled to find out that most of our membership agrees. As any good business person knows, we must capitalize on our strengths. As a member of this great organization you have access to brilliant women and their minds, utilize them! Pick up the phone and pick a fellow member's brain on an issue you are facing. One of my goals is to figure out how we can expand upon this concept. Arlene has done a great job with the Marketing Round Table, which is only one aspect of this concept. If you have not attended a Round Table please try one, I know you will find it invaluable. If you have any ideas about how we can implement this concept in other areas of business, please contact myself or any other board member.

In closing, I would like to remind you all that the Business Women of the year award will be given this month to Suzanne Rosenblum. Suzanne is an incredible lady who is an inspiration to us all. Make sure you are there to see Suzie receive our biggest honor.
