TEAM NJAWBO
The sky was overcast and the temperature was on the chilly
side. But it was a beautiful day. It was Sunday, October 17th,
and thousands of people from all over New Jersey came together
at the Bristol Myers Squibb corporate campus in Lawrenceville
to participate in the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's
New Jersey Race for the Cure. They were there to raise money
to fight breast caner, that terrible affliction that affects
so many women and their families. And raise a lot of money they
did.
The Mercer Chapter of the New Jersey Association of Women Business
Owners (NJAWBO) organized a team to participate in the 5Kwalk.
Team NJAWBO raised $1100 in the quest to eradicate breast cancer.
Two of the team members were breast cancer survivors, which
made it even more compelling. The team members were: Eileen
Entin, Ruth Gatling, Paula Gould, Sheryl Haber-Kuo, Lynn McDougall,
Meryl Miller, Terri Petry, Linda Richter, Suzanne Rosenblum
— team captain, Stephanie Sharp and her husband Tom Sharp,
Anne Skalka, Lisa Snyder, Marsha Stoltman, and Jackie Zohn and
her daughter Erica.
Team NJAWBO members wore turquoise visors with the NJAWBO logo
on the front, which made them very recognizable and easy to
spot. The Mercer chapter's own Jackie Guthrie of 2imprint4U
donated the wonderful visors.
Hopefully, there will be a team NJAWBO next year with many
more participants. A bigger team may even qualify for the largest
increase in team size award.
Next year, a Sunday morning in the last half of October will
also be a beautiful day, even if it's cloudy and cold.
