President's Message

As I write this message we are in the midst of Women's History Month! March has been dedicated to the achievements of women throughout history. It is very easy for me, as someone who has grown up after the women's movement to take for granted all of the opportunities that I have had as a businesswoman. Every now and than I encounter a businesswoman who has had many barriers overcome in her career due to that fact that she was a woman and quiet frankly it amazes me! What amazes me is that we have come so far in such a short time. Right now is a great time to be a woman, especially a woman business owner!

It is a great time to stop and reflect upon the women or men who have made your career possible. Perhaps you were like me and had a mother and a father who pushed you to be your very best, or perhaps it was a teacher who saw your potential and pushed you and was always there for you. Maybe your role model was a public figure, someone who was making history, someone who motivated you beyond your wildest dreams. Whoever motivated you to do what you did to get where you are, now is a good time to reflect upon them and thank them. As women business owners we have a responsibility to young women all over the country, to make them realize their potential! We are the role models for so many young women, they look at us and say wow, I can do that! Make it a point to mentor a young lady, we have to make sure the next generation knows that they can be business owners.

As many of you know, this year marks NJAWBO's 25th year supporting women business owners in New Jersey. Let us mark this year by focusing on how we can ensure that women's business ownership continues to grow in New Jersey. One way to accomplish this is to increase the media attention that women business owners throughout the state receive. We do not toot our own horn when it comes to our accomplishments! We need to get more press releases out highlighting our achievements. NJAWBO can help you by providing a template of a press release for your personal use. Today we are at war, a very scary time for our country. Please join me in supporting our men and women in the armed forces and pray for their safe return. We all may not agree with the course of action our government has chosen, but we are all American and we need to support each other. May God continue to bless America.
