Company Mascot
Clary was a "last-chance" pound puppy. We found her at PetSmart during their adopt-a-pet Saturday's, where the animal shelters bring pets to meet their new families.
Supposedly, she was hit by a car and dropped off anonymously at
the Edinburgh Animal Hospital in Mercerville. They fixed her up,
and brought her to the Hamilton Township Animal Shelter. She was
adopted by someone, but then returned to the shelter because the new owner's
other dog was too rough. That's what made her "last chance" status. As it was described to us, if she was not adopted within
two weeks, she would have been put to sleep.
We adopted Clary in July, 1999, and she has become an integral part of the Set Now family. Clary has been the focus of many promotional photo shoots, and she remains the most easy-going staff member on picture day, requiring no makeup or "pretty time" like some others.
In addition to being a 64 lb. lap dog, Clary has also shown a tremendous capacity toward problem solving, and has a fantastic memory. As you can see from he photographs of her below, she looks like she is contemplating the next task at hand. As so, she makes a wonderful, inspirational, insatiable and irresistible mascot, icon and coworker. Clary has appeared in various print ads, and is proficient in HTML, Adobe Photoshop and catching Frisbees. (Actually, she is expert in catching Frisbees.)

Clary experienced a sudden turn of health in 2003, and we almost lost her. In a 3-day period she became listless and lost her appetite. Even cooked hamburger held in front of her nose was ignored. We brought her to West Trenton Animal Hospital, and their staff gave her fluids and recommended a specialist for what they suspected she was suffering from — a chronic condition called Addison's disease. Further testing confirmed the diagnosis. We made a trip to the University of Pennsylvania's Veterinary facility, and their staff, working with the great doctors at West Trenton Animal Hospital, came up with a drug regimen.
As it turns out, Addison's disease affects the body's ability to create the correct balance of hormones. With Clary, the imbalance was shutting down her renal system which could quickly have turned fatal. Addison's disease (which also affects humans) can be controlled by daily doses of cortisone (fortunately very affordable) and an injection of a drug called Percortin every 28 days (don't ask the price, please).
It's now 2010, and Clary is very much alive. She still has her girlish figure, and she still loves playing Frisbee, doing Photoshop (she still uses CS4) and being the center of attention. The more things change, the more we appreciate that which, fortunately, remains the same. An old quote from Sarah Miller sums it up nicely...
"The Clary campaign has been one of our most successful," says Sarah Miller, President of Set Now Solutions. "The camera loves her. And she works for kibble."

"Clary Wallpapers" (circa 2002)
Back in the day, the background images on your monitor were called "wallpapers". I guess the web really has evolved, because now they are just called "background images".
